We received 265 complaints about sudden jumps in decile categories from residents
Residents complained of sudden shifts in their decile categories despite stable or worsening economic conditions.
"In the past two months, we received 265 complaints about sudden jumps in decile categories from residents requesting corrections," he expressed, Monday (9/28).
Jakarta Speeds Up Decile Data Updates for Social Assistance RecipientsHe explained that decile categorization issues stem from the rollout of the National Single Social and Economic Data (DTSEN) under Presidential Instruction 4/2025 and Social Affairs Ministerial Regulation 3/2025 to harmonize socio-economic databases.
August pointed out that DTSEN implementation needs refinement due to inaccurate categorizations caused by suboptimal data verification.
"While centralizing welfare data via DTSEN is a good step, in practice, many residents reported not even being surveyed by field officers," he explained.
He highlighted the Jakarta Social Agency's Rp 803.77 billion social assistance budget in the 2026 Amended Regional Budget, emphasizing that tax-derived funds must reach those in genuine need.
August urged authorities to provide broad appeal channels for residents objecting to their decile ratings, and called on the Jakarta government to coordinate with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Statistics Indonesia (BPS) for data re-verification.
"Social facilitators and the Social Agency must widely accommodate residents wishing to contest decile category increases," he continued.
